Friday afternoon through Sunday evening, with optional ritual Monday morning
Join us at the crossroads of the astral, the virtual, and the physical for an online retreat and magical intensive.
Mysteries of Samhain is a witchcamp and community space in the Reclaiming tradition held annually among the redwoods in the Mendocino Woodlands. Because of the worldwide pandemic, we are holding this year’s camp remotely in our various homes and virtual realms.
We will spend the weekend fully between the worlds. In an online retreat, we cannot unplug from the internet, but we plan on giving magical support for separating ourselves from headlines and notifications to the extent possible.
We will create a container together and support each other through a carefully crafted journey as the veils of Samhain continue to part. As always, our camp is a magical intensive in retreat space.
Through trance, music, divination, art, spellwork, embodied movement, and more, we will embark on a journey through the woods together.
We will see ourselves as witches, strengthen our communities, and work change in the world.
This year’s theme is the Crossroads in the Woods, and we will work with our ancestors and with Hecate and Hestia as we dive into the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. This is not your grandmother’s trip to grandmother’s house!
We promise we won’t be sitting in chairs on Zoom all day! But we ask all attendees to commit to spending the entire weekend in sacred space to the best of your ability. Mysteries of Samhain is not a drop-in for people who’d like to attend a ritual or two; it’s a magical journey we all undertake together. And it’s witchy as fuck.
REGISTRATION – August 8 for returning campers / Aug 16 general
$90-$240 and up – some scholarship assistance available
Your sliding scale donation supports campers who might not otherwise be able to attend. After our budget for supplies and labor, contributions will go to support Mendocino Woodlands, Reclaiming, and next year’s camp.
We especially offer generous scholarships to marginalized folks, including low-income, People of Color, LGBTQ, people with disabilities, and more.
We want this camp to be accessible to all interested folks. For more about Reclaiming, visit Reclaiming.org/about
Space is limited to 50 campers. The first week of registration will be open to returning campers and their families, and registration opens to the wider community after that.
Returning Camper Registration: August 8-15
General Registration: Opens August 16
CALL FOR PRIESTESSES
We are seeking campers to teach 45-minute sessions on practical magic, such as divination, spellcrafting, herbs, healing arts, and movement practices. We also need witches to anchor optional late-night and early-morning events. .
Everyone is a priestess at Mysteries of Samhain, and we co-craft rituals with our campers. Please let us know on the registration form if you’d like to help plan and/or priestess rituals.
On Saturday August 22, your ritual planning team will open up some of the rituals for community co-creation
We are seeking one or two campers who are intimately familiar with software such as Zoom and Slack to anchor our tech support for the weekend. This is a (modestly) paid position.
Our registration form includes space for you to describe what help you might need to attend camp. We will do our best to accommodate campers. Although online space is more accessible to some witches than an outdoor camp in cold weather, that’s not true for everyone, and we want to make this work for committed campers.

Share in an intense weekend of Reclaiming-style, Earth-based spirituality, magic, and community!
Bay Area Reclaiming ritual planners invite you to join us in the redwoods at Mendocino Woodlands as we weave a web that crosses the generations.
Mysteries of Samhain is an intimate camp of less than fifty people, allowing each person to be woven into the community and the deep magic inspired by the land we inhabit for the weekend. This year, we will be cradled in the majestic beauty of Mendocino Woodlands, where we can greet the trees and other living beings and listen to our deep selves amid the sounds of nature.
Mysteries of Samhain is a do-it-ourselves, community-style camp. This is a magical intensive, not a festival or a drop-in camp. We ask that people plan to attend the entire event (unless advance arrangements are made) and be committed to creating camp culture.
Reclaiming is an inclusive tradition. Folks new to Reclaiming are welcome; read our Principles of Unity here.
